I'm focused on
Playing the next shot.
BlueCross member Larry approaches health setbacks the same way he approaches his golf game — one shot at a time.
Larry was playing golf on a beautiful day in March when all of a sudden, he couldn't take the next step. He could not bear any weight on his knee.
He called for help and went to a local facility, where they told him his meniscus was torn. After doing his research and finding he likely needed a routine knee procedure, Larry had no hesitation about going through the process.
Knee Pain and Complications
After his procedure, "I immediately still had sharp pains in the knee," Larry says. He went to another doctor who diagnosed him with a knee infection and said they would need to operate tomorrow.
That fall, Larry had another experience on the golf course — "something didn't feel right." A trip to the ER revealed problems with his main artery, and he needed another procedure.
Larry's resilience got him through all those health setbacks, and fortunately, his insurance meant it wasn't a big financial hit.
When asked how he dealt with everything, Larry says "I always tell people just to play one shot at a time."
